Zodiac - Aquarius, WaterBearer

Description

The 11th House: Aquarius the Water Bearer.

Take a good long look at the picture. Confused yet? No? Then go ahead and explain to the rest of the class why I would draw a bird with a gun as the water bearer, you know-it-all.

...

Thought so.

The sign of Aquarius, despite its name and symbol (the Water Bearer), is not a water-based sign, rather, it is an air-based sign, whose animal representation is that of the large bird - in this case, the raptor or bird-of-prey. The bird I had in mind was the Harpy eagle, an interesting avian with a fanciful crest of spiky feathers sticking out the back of its head, and cloaked in grays and whites.

"So why a gun?" I hear you snort derisively. As you might've noticed, since I've been pointing it out, I've been associating each of the Zodiacs with a specific weapon, something I thought fit with the symbol or personality of the sign. For example, Virgo (Earth) holds a staff, while Taurus (also Earth) holds an axe - these are tools as well as weapons. Aries (Fire) wields a mace, while Leo (Fire, as well) wields a sword, both weapons designed to inflict great amounts of damage. So what about Air? Air is one of the finer elements, and its weapons should reflect that: Libra is a construct, running on magnetism using the flail, a weapon that can't just be wildly swung around or you can serious hurt yourself; Gemini is a pair of chakrams (reflecting the Twins) that require more finesse and precision. So, I emphasize such Air-type idealism with the revolver, one of the more basic firearms while still holding a certain level of complexity above such basic weapons as the spear, or even the bow and arrow.

I didn't want to draw wings, that's why he doesn't have any.
